I was scammed

I was originally sold a dream by their salesperson Noah. After I signed my contract and paid my $2,220 deposit, nothing went according to what he told me. They tried to change the moving dates that he guaranteed me they could accommodate. I didn’t receive confirmation of the move or who the assigned carrier was until 12 hours before the move. Worst of all, when the carrier arrived, I was told that they greatly misquoted me. I was then charged an additional $4,000. My move went from a $6,600 move to a $10,500. When I tried to call customer service, the guy I spoke with was extremely rude and not helpful. This move was a disaster. Don’t fall for the nice talking salespeople. This broker is a con artist and scammers! Stay away!

Absolute professionals in every way

These movers were friendly and experts at packing all of my furniture and belongings. Everything arrived in perfect condition with no damage at all. But most importantly, each person that I spoke to at this company was polite and professional, and very responsive to e-mail and phone calls. I would absolutely call this company again for my next move!

BE CAUTIOUS- this was NOT a good experience

Regarding booking and pick-up: We were relocating states (New Mexico to Arizona). We received a quote from a VERY nice and helpful representative. The quote was not only based on our verbal description of items, but we also did a video chat with the representative so he had a better idea of the items we had and their sizes. After multiple emails back and forth, he gave us a quote of (for simplistic purposes) $13,000. The representative added, that the pick-up driver would do the final assessment, but if items were removed the quote of $13,000 could be reduced and the reduction would be reflected in our final bill. Feeling confident we had all items in our quote, we booked and made our first payment. After we set up pick-up, communication was non-existent until 2-3 days before the pick-up. We were working within a budget and wanted to reduce the $13,000 cost/quote, so prior to pick-up we moved SEVERAL large and oddly shaped items to AZ on our own. We moved a 20' UHaul truck and 14' trailer with several items including bedroom sets, mattresses, tables, large/odd shaped tools, washers/dryers, bikes, wall décor, sofas and entertainment centers to name a few. When the company arrived for pick-up, it was a third party (not United Best Moving but Western Van Lines) who assessed the items. There was a communication issue due to the drivers thick accent. After assessing our items, he gave a "final" quote which increased original quote by $8,000! We were unable to dispute the revised amount and had to move to report to work the following weekday. The driver knew our position and we believe he took advantage of it. Rather than having a care-free moving experience we spent the day trying to sell and give away items to reduce the cost. We ended up leaving several items in storage because of the time constraints. It was such a horrible experience. Further, the movers broke an outdoor light fixture outside the residence and failed to tell us. We were selling the house and the relator had to inform us the light was held up by packing tape (the brown tape used by the Van Lines) and we would need to find someone to repair it before the sale of the house.

DELIVERY: The delivery date was set and prepared in an appropriate time and manner. The afternoon before delivery, I was told they would accept cash, Venmo or postal money order. I obtained money orders from Western Union and when Van Lines arrived the following day, they would not accept the money orders because they were not from the post office. We were able to overcome this hurdle in about 35 minutes. After (eventually) accepting the payment, they unloaded the truck. Each box is numbered and the number correlates to a packing sheet which should provide a description of what is inside the box, so you know where to direct the box placement. The packing sheet was horribly mislabeled. As an example, an item that was part of a pool table, was described as a cookie sheet, and several boxes were described only as "box." We had to open multiple boxes to determine what was inside so I knew where to place the box. Watch how they pack your televisions, the packers took all stands/feet OFF the TV before packing the TV's and placed the stands/feet in boxes; however, they did not label the boxes of where to find the stands/feet (we still have not located one of the TV stands). Additionally, the packing was horrible. Stacks of glass plates were wrapped together with a few pieces of packing paper and placed in a box. Many items were put into the largest boxes possible, causing items to open, crack and become a mess through the moving process. Lastly, depending on where you are moving, there could be an ADDITIONAL costs to your items being delivered. As an example, if you have stairs, only the first 7 steps are free and they will charge you for each step thereafter, and if you have a long driveway at delivery there is an additional fee.

OVERALL: The United Best Moving representatives were all very nice and helpful; however, the actual experience and cost of booking this company for the move was FAR more expensive and much more stressful and emotional than anticipated. Be cautious and look at all other moving company options first.

Long-distance move from Rangely, CO to Burnet, TX

Poor!!

Well what can I say? United best movers are a broker. Something they did not mention to me in the beginning. They sent guys from New Jersey to move us from Colorado to Texasand these guys worked for a different company. Of course, they showed up on my secondary date I had chosen putting us a day behind schedule right off the bat. I had everything that stayed with the house labeled with a sticky note and taped to the item that was to stay and yet they managed to leave behind some of our items that were not labeled to stay.

Fortunately, none of the items left behind are irreplaceable. On delivery, we had several items broke. I kinda expected maybe a few things broke, but this was a little overboard. Some of those items are irreplaceable and can’t be replaced!

When I got my quote, I told the guy it was going to take a 26’ moving truck. Yet, after all was said and done, the wanted another $4k. So, on top of another $4k and multiple broke items, they didn’t even stick around to help put everything back together. This was my first experience using a moving company and put a very bad taste in my mouth.

If you are in the need of a moving company, I would steer clear of this crackpot company!

Do call them!!!!

I cannot believe someone gave this company a five star rating! One star is too much! United Best is 1 step up from the bottom of the barrel. The bottom is Movers& Packers who were sent by United Best to make our moving experience nearly the worst experience of our life. Our price went up with United Best then doubled with the company they subcontracted to that pretty much ripped us off financially, destroying & losing a good portion of our belongings. Of course United Best is NOT responsible for what happens after they get their money!

On the day our belongings were picked up United Best deleted the contract from our email, saying our move was complete!!!! How can it be complete when we had not received our belongings?? United Best actually said “Welcome to the family”. Well you don’t treat family like they treated us! If you read their website there is NOTHING true! They do not explain the process, follow up, or seem to care!

We emailed them numerous times about delivery and response was give to give the movers time! It took 21 days for a 1262 mile delivery.

United Best was emailed again after we received our broken & missing belongings without any response. I was able to talk to customer service but they have no information on owner, CEO, or a person in charge to contact, really!!! I was told to email customer service again & I did, but once again no response.

Not even, I am sorry for your experience!

I would say United Best was complicit and who knows part of the scam!

Do not hire this company and ask many questions of any you do. Be careful what you sign, even when they say “It is for your protection.

This company is a complete scam and has fake pricing

This company is a scam

Not once did they ever disclose that they are not a moving company, nor did they offer a visual estimate.

Emmit Wilson went through everything I was moving and he purposely gave me a lowball estimate to make sure I would book.

Upon pressuring me to pay the deposit to ensure "I dont lose my rate" - I did

Emmit Wilson then proceeded to tell me that as long as I did not add anything to my load that I would not get charged more than the $2782 estimate. Knowing this I went ahead and sold more of my belongings to ensure that I was going to be below the estimate.

Michael from Quality assurance then called me a day before my move date of 4/13/22 to go over the list of items again, they he proceeded to tell me that I would not be charged more.

A completely separate moving company came to do the move and proceeded to tell me I had to pay an additional $2,000 because United Best Moving Failed to do a visual estimate.

Upon calling this scam of a company they told me that there is nothing they can do as this is now between me and the movers.

At this point I realized what they had done. DO NOT work with this company.

Terrible and Overly Incompetent Employees

Trying to coordinate with this moving company and storage company has been an absolute nightmare.

I had to move around my appointment 3 different times trying to coordinate a time that worked for both the moving company and storage unit (the storage company requires you make an appointment for a 3-hour window).

The reps at United Best Moving are incompetent. I talked to three different people trying to confirm the date and time which had to be moved to accommodate the storage company. They kept ensuring me they were recording the info, yet I got a confirmation call the day prior to the original CANCELED date and I had to once again explain that the appointment should have been moved. I also provided my dad as a point of contact since I would be out of town before the movers had a chance to get my stuff, and I provided his name and number to two different people. Yet this was never recorded for some reason.

Well today was the big day. I got a text from a driver 4 hours before the scheduled time confirming he'd be there in an hour. I questioned how he was given a time of 9 am when the appointment was supposed to be for 12 pm. He then called the office to check in then texted me the soonest he could show up is 2 pm. I said that was fine.

THEN I get a call at 1 pm from the moving company stating that the driver canceled on me last minute and they didn't have a backup driver available. The woman on the phone advised me the earliest availability they have is Wednesday, but they couldn't provide me a time. She said she'd let me know tomorrow. This is clearly an issue because I need to be able to accommodate the time with the storage company. She also didn't have my dad's info written down even though I'd provided it to three different people. I'm not sure where they're finding these employees.

The storage company normally charges a $100 rescheduling fe. Thankfully they agreed to waive it based on the situation being entirely out of my hands. However, the earliest availability the storage unit has is January 17. So now I have to - once again - go back and forth between these two companies hoping to find a date and time that will work for everyone. Not to mention I'm already out of town and without my furniture. We've been sleeping on air mattresses and have no drawers to store our clothes and such.

If I ever move long distance again, I will NOT use United Best Moving. I'm actually THIS close to calling them up and trying to get my deposit back so I can pursue a more competent moving company.

Stop and Save Yourself a Lot of Headaches!

Like many other reviews on here, I was promised a great move with an A-rated carrier for almost half of other moving companies. This turned out too good to be true. The Sales Reps are very persuasive…beware as all they care about is getting the down payment of your move and forget about ever getting what you were promised. This is a brokerage company that acquires the contracts and then tries to sell the contract to carriers without caring if they’re the worst moving companies with F ratings by the Better Business Bureau as was my case. It took multiple calls for them to finally tell me the name of the company that would handle my move which was the worst moving company in California. I would have had to wait for over 30 days to get my stuff moved if I had gone with them as they wait to have enough contracts to fill their vans before they can move your stuff…this was never disclosed when I booked my move. Instead they promised that I would get my stuff moved in a matter of 4-5 days. Do not trust this company, they are as deceptive as they come. I am glad I was able to get a local reputable company to handle my move at the last minute. No false savings are worth all the hassle and broken promises from this company.

Great company to work with!!

They were right on time, very efficient, communicative, asked questions when needed, and just did a really good job. They picked up my old place and every box was clearly labelled and organized. The bed was reassembled so well that it's honestly more stable than it was previously.
